Every year on the third Sunday of July, La Festa del Redentore (the Feast of the Redeemer) in Venice is celebrated and the Bauers will be part of this event with two special dinners for its guests. Festa del Redentore is one of Venice’s most ancient traditional festivals, and it is dedicated to the memory of Il Redentore, a church built in 1576, in honor of Christ Redeemer, who saved Venice from the plague that wiped out one third of the population.
Around 1,500 festively decorated boats gather in St. Mark’s Basin, and 30,000 people from all over the world watch the event from boats, rooftops, terraces and canal banks, which have all been garnished with thousands of lights and lanterns. They gather on the Giudecca’s island for the traditional procession and to watch fireworks, which illuminate the sky with explosive colors at midnight and trickle down over the lagoon.
To celebrate the Redentore, the Bauers has organized two dinners, both of which provide front-row seats to the 45-minute fireworks, starting at 11:40 p.m.. One is a gourmet dinner hosted on the terrace of De Pisis Restaurant bordering the Grand Canal and overlooking St. Mark’s basin. The alternative is a Mediterranean seated buffet dinner with musical entertainment set in the renaissance garden.
